Beckham was renowned for his delivery of a ball, so his words will come as high-praise to Trippier.
The former Burnley defender responded to Beckham’s comments during a Lions’ Den broadcast on the England team’s official Youtube channel.
“He’s always been my idol since I was younger because of his set pieces,” said Trippier (via HITC). “His all-round play, he’s won everything in the game.
“To receive that message – what a moment for me. To get it off my idol is something special, and one I’ll never ever forget.”
Trippier will be aiming to cement his status as Spurs’ first-choice right-back ahead of Serge Aurier next season following an impressive summer.
