Tottenham are interested in signing Inter Milan midfielder Roberto Gagliardini before the transfer deadline, according to reports in Italy.
Gagliardini, a central midfielder, originally joined Inter on loan from Atalanta in January 2017. Inter agreed to sign him permanently this summer.
However, according to Italian outlet Tutto Mercato Web, Inter are considering selling Gagliardini already.
The 24-year-old has made a total of 52 appearances for the Serie A giants across all competitions, scoring two goals – he played 30 times in Serie A last season without scoring a single goal.
If Spurs are interested, they will apparently face competition from Atletico Madrid and Valencia.
Tottenham are yet to make signing this summer. A central midfielder appeared to be a priority when Mousa Dembele was heavily linked with a departure.
But the Belgian midfielder is no closer to the exit door than he was a few weeks ago. He is yet to return to Spurs after reaching the World Cup semi-finals with Belgium.
Inter are believed to hold an interest in Dembele, so perhaps a swap deal involving Gagliardini would make sense.
At this stage, though, it seems more likely that Dembele will stay with Tottenham.
