Jamie Carragher has tipped Tottenham striker Harry Kane to win the Premier League Golden Boot for the third time this season.
Kane, who won the Golden Boot in both the 2015/16 and 2016/17 campaigns, missed out on the award to Mohamed Salah last season.
Salah scored 32 goals in 36 Premier League appearances in 2017/18, while Kane found the net 30 times in 37 league matches.
But speaking during Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football broadcast, Carragher predicted Kane will take the Golden Boot back from Salah this term.
“If you ask me the same question for the next seven years, I’ll always say Harry Kane,” said Carragher.
“He will take the penalties, he will never be left out and he has the mentality every season to be the top scorer and as I’ve said before, I think he’s going to break all kinds of records.
“I think it’s telling he has signed a six-year contract and wasn’t looking to Real Madrid. I think he wants to be the greatest scorer in Tottenham’s history and he wants the Premier League record also.”
Gary Neville, meanwhile, thinks Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero – who scored a hat-trick against Huddersfield Town on Saturday – will top the goalscoring charts in 2018/19.
Both pundits also tipped Manchester City to retain the Premier League title and predicted Spurs will finish fourth behind the champions, Liverpool and Manchester United.
“Tottenham have, over a period of years, been consistent and have still retained all of their best players for us to show a level of belief in them that they will finish in the top four again,” added Neville.
“They have won our trust and performed season in and season out. It’s been a brilliant performance by Mauricio Pochettino there with no budget.”
Spurs began their campaign with a 2-1 win against Newcastle United at St James’ Park, following that up with 3-1 victory over Fulham at Wembley on Saturday.
Kane bagged his first ever Premier League goal in the month of August against Fulham, ending a long-running hoodoo and boosting his Golden Boot chances.
