Tottenham winger Georges-Kevin N’Koudou would prefer to join St Etienne over Mainz, according to reports in France.
Earlier this month, Sky Sports reported Spurs were set to send N’Koudou on a season-long loan to Bundesliga side Mainz.
But according to French outlet L’Equipe (via Tribal Football), N’Koudou would rather return to Ligue 1 with St Etienne.
The report claims St Etienne want to sign the 23-year-old on loan until the end of the season with an option to buy and that talks between the clubs are underway.
N’Koudou joined Tottenham from Marseille in the summer of 2016 but has struggled to break into Mauricio Pochettino’s preferred line-up.
He spent the second half of last season on loan at Burnley, but no English clubs made a move for the former France Under-21 international before the Premier League’s August 9th transfer deadline.
N’Koudou’s only chance of playing regular senior football this season now appears to lie abroad.
