Fenerbahce have denied reports suggesting they are set to sign Moussa Sissoko on a season-long loan from Tottenham.

During Spurs’ 3-0 win at Manchester United on Monday night, reports emerged suggesting Sissoko was on his way out of the club with Fenerbahce ready take him on loan for the campaign.

However, the Turkish club has now denied those reports. In a statement translated by Goal, Fenerbahce said: “Regarding a transfer of Moussa Sissoko to our club, there has been no contact with the player, the manager or the club.”

Sissoko started Tottenham’s 2-0 victory at Newcastle United on the opening weekend of the new season but was left out of the squad completely for Monday night’s win at Old Trafford.

His absence from the group was likely the reason rumours of a potential exit intensified – it seems those rumours were premature.

That’s not to say Sissoko won’t secure a move to a foreign club before the European transfer deadline on August 31st.

With Mousa Dembele now seemingly set to stay at Spurs, Sissoko is unlikely to play as much has he’d hoped going into the new campaign.

The 29-year-old has struggled to cement a place in Mauricio Pochettino’s preferred line-up since arriving at Tottenham in the summer of 2016.
