Tottenham didn’t make a single signing over the summer, but keeping hold of Toby Alderweireld – as it appears they are set to do – may be the best piece of business imaginable.
The Belgian was at the absolute top of his game during Monday night’s 3-0 win at Manchester United. Jose Mourinho reportedly wanted to sign Alderweireld before the transfer deadline, but Spurs somehow retained the centre-back.
