Earlier this week, Tottenham teenager Marcus Edwards sealed a season-long loan move to Eredivisie club Excelsior Rotterdam.

Today, another Spurs prospect secured a temporary exit from the club – Josh Onomah has joined Sheffield Wednesday on loan until the end of the season.

Onomah, 21, spent last season on loan in the Championship with Aston Villa before returning to Tottenham in the summer, hoping to play a role in the first-team this term.

However, an injury saw the midfielder miss Spurs’ pre-season tour of the US meaning he didn’t get the chance to impress Mauricio Pochettino ahead of the new campaign.

As a result, the pressure is on Onomah once again to shine in the second tier.

Sheffield Wednesday have had a mixed start to the season, winning two, losing two and drawing one of their opening five games.

Onomah was named in the England Under-21 squad earlier this week.

His hopes of becoming a senior international could rest on having a good season with Wednesday and returning to Tottenham a better player.
