Mauricio Pochettino fell foul of the FA’s new “abusive behaviour” rules during Tottenham’s Premier League win over Fulham last month, according to the Mail.

The FA now has the power to show yellow and red cards to managers as part of a new scheme to eradicate abusive conduct on the touchline.

And according to the Mail, Pochettino is the first top-flight manager to receive a “Stage 1 warning”, which can be given for a number of offences kicking water bottles and making inappropriate gestures towards referees or their assistants.

The Mail claims to have seen data that confirms Pochettino misconduct. However, they do not know exactly what the Spurs boss was punished for.

Tottenham ran out 3-1 winners against Fulham thanks to goals from Lucas Moura, Kieran Trippier and Harry Kane.

Pochettino was seen kicking a water bottle in Spurs’ following game, the 3-0 victory against Manchester United at Old Trafford, but it is unclear if he has been punished for that incident.

Nothing has been confirmed officially by the FA yet, so it’s probably best to wait until we hear from the governing body before speculating too much.
