Mauricio Pochettino wants Tottenham to sign Luke Shaw from Manchester United, according to the Sun.

Shaw rose to prominence at Southampton while Pochettino was manager of the south coast club, receiving his first England call-up as a teenager.

The defender has struggled with injuries and form issues since leaving Southampton for Manchester United, but he seems to have rediscovered his best form in the early stages of this season.

That’s despite being stretchered off with a concussion during England’s 2-1 defeat to Spain in the UEFA Nations League on Tuesday.

According to the Sun, Shaw is in no hurry to sign a new contract with United – his current deals expires next summer.

The report also claims Pochettino wants a reunion with Shaw at Spurs, with Danny Rose’s future in north London continuing to look uncertain.

Shaw was arguably United’s best player during Tottenham’s 3-0 win at Old Trafford last month.

Spurs may be able to sign the 23-year-old for a cut-price fee in January given his contract situation, although United are likely to do everything possible to tie Shaw down to a new deal.
