Tottenham are interested in signing Fiorentina defender Nikola Milenkovic, according to the Mirror.
Milenkovic, who turned 21 on Friday, is also said to be attracting Manchester United after a string of fine performances in Serie A.
The centre-back starred for Serbia at the World Cup, showing a maturity beyond his years in the heart of the defence.
And according to the Mirror, Spurs are now considering a move for Milenkovic as the uncertainty around Toby Alderweireld’s future refuses to go away.
Alderweireld is out of contract next summer and while Tottenham can trigger a one-year extension, that would in turn trigger a £25 million release clause.
With that in mind, the Londoners are likely to be on the lookout for a new centre-back, and Milenkovic fits the bill.
The Serbian joined Fiorentina for just £4 million in 2017, but his valuation has almost certainly risen considerably since then.
Whether Spurs will move for a centre-back in January or wait until next summer remains to be seen – a central midfielder may be more of a priority with Mousa Dembele having entered the final 12 months of his contract.
