Tottenham are not interested in signing Boca Juniors star Wilmar Barrios despite reports that suggest otherwise, according to ESPN.

Barrios was linked with a move to Spurs during the World Cup, where the midfielder performed well for Colombia.

The Londoners failed to sign a single player during the summer, but reports in Argentina claim they have agreed personal terms with Barrios ahead of a possible January move.

Those reports suggest Tottenham will have to pay €23 million (around £20.5m) to sign the 25-year-old in the winter transfer window.

However, ESPN claims Spurs have not agreed terms with Barrios and currently have no plans to pursue him.

There is still a chance Mauricio Pochettino will be forced into the market for a central midfielder in January with Mousa Dembele having entered the final 12 months of his contract.

Harry Winks has stepped up in recent weeks, but Tottenham will be light in midfield if Dembele departs in the winter.

Spurs have also been linked with Blackburn Rovers midfielder Bradley Dack and Barcelona winger Malcom ahead of a potentially busy January.
