Tottenham are interested in signing Hoffenheim midfielder Florian Grillitsch, according to Sky Sports.
Grillitsch has made 20 appearances across all competitions for Hoffenheim this season, scoring one goal in the Champions League.
Spurs are said to have watched the Grillitsch for his club and the Austrian national team this in recent months, and the Londoners have apparently become fond of the 23-year-old.
Sky claims there is a release clause of just over £18 million in Grillitsch’s contract, so Tottenham may be able to pick him up for a bargain this month.
Mauricio Pochettino is in need of a new central midfielder with Mousa Dembele set to leave for the Chinese Super League.
Eric Dier could return from a month-long layoff against Manchester United this weekend, but Victor Wanyama is still sidelined and Spurs need more numbers in midfield.
At just 23, Grillitsch has the potential to improve and Pochettino could be the perfect manager to make that happen.
Reports this week also suggest Tottenham haven’t ended their interest in Paris Saint-Germain contract rebel Adrien Rabiot, although Grillitsch might be a more acquirable target.
