Athletic Bilbao will push hard to sign Tottenham striker Fernando Llorente by the end of the month, according to reports in Spain.
Llorente has voiced his desire to return to Spain, preferably with his former club Bilbao, on multiple occasions.
The striker, who joined Spurs form Swansea City in the summer of 2017, has also been linked with Valencia in recent weeks.
And earlier this month Bilbao sporting director Rafa Alkorta confirmed the club is interested in re-signing Llorente this month.
Now, Spanish outlet El Correo (via Sport Witness) claims Bilbao will launch a “full offensive” to get a January deal done for the 33-year-old.
Llorente scored a hat-trick for Tottenham against Tranmere Rovers in the FA Cup last weekend, his second treble for the club.
Both of those hat-tricks have come against lower league opposition, and the Spaniard has scored just three other goals, including one in the Premier League.
Spurs are likely to move for a new back-up striker in the summer with Llorente and Vincent Janssen both expected to seal exits in the near future – neither player will be hugely missed.
