Lucas Moura has confirmed he is receiving “full time treatment” in the hope he can return quickly from a knee injury, but admits the knock is “still painful” ahead of a crucial run of games for Tottenham.

Mauricio Pochettino will be in desperate need of Lucas if Harry Kane’s ankle injury is serious. Kane limped off after the final whistle in Sunday’s defeat to Manchester United at Wembley, and the swelling on his ankle still hasn’t gone down enough for the striker to have a scan.

Kane has missed multiple matches over the last two seasons with a similar ankle problem. Any ligament damage could see him miss the next few games, which has come at a bad time for Spurs with Son Heung-min having left for the Asian Cup.

Unable to call on the services of Kane and Son, Pochettino would likely use Lucas as a centre forward instead of Fernando Llorente, who has been linked with a move away from the club this month.

But Lucas is still struggling with the knee injury he picked up against Tranmere in the FA Cup earlier this month. The Brazilian gave an update via Twitter on Monday – see it below.

  1. This is the time when Poch must be regretting not dipping in the market in the summer.
Real important stage of our season right now, the need to beat Chelski next week is vital, a trip against City would be great, and who knows what can happen in a final.
