Jermaine Jenas has said Tottenham Hotspur would be a perfect fit for Bournemouth starlet David Brooks should he leave the south coast club.

Brooks has impressed since joining Bournemouth from Sheffield United last summer, scoring six goals and providing four assists in 22 Premier League appearances so far this season.

The 21-year-old has subsequently been linked with a future move to a top six club, with Spurs being mooted as a potential destination.

And Jenas, who himself joined Tottenham as a youngster, has tipped his former club to lure Brooks to north London.

“I think there are a few teams that will want him regardless of how young he is,” Jenas told Goal. “Bournemouth will be asking for a lot of money for him.

“He scores great goals and gets assists, but those are the easy things to spot. I love the way he receives the ball, the way he takes the ball in pressurised areas, his technique and his mentality. He has got an excellent temperament.

“Young players have the ability to be fearless when they go to a top club and play well. David Brooks will hopefully go somewhere like Tottenham; I think that’s a perfect fit for him.

“He’s also the perfect fit for the club. He would get game time so it would be nice to see him at Tottenham.”

Brooks would be a very useful addition to the Spurs squad. He is versatile and young, two things Mauricio Pochettino is known to value.

Indeed, Pochettino has an excellent track record of developing young players and getting the best out British talent.

Already a full Wales international, Brooks has made nine senior appearances for his country but is yet to find the net for the Dragons.

A move to a top six club could be what Brooks needs to take his level of performance to the next level – whether Tottenham are genuinely targeting him remains to be seen.

  1. Spurs wouldn’t take the punt on buying Brooks for £11,5M from Sheffield Utd last summer although by all accounts they were looking at him and were interested. How on earth would they now pay more than double for him.
I like Jenas as a pundit but he does talk a lot of Bollocks sometimes.I just wish people would stop linking Spurs with every Tom Dick and Harry when it is blatantly obvious that it is Enic, Daniel Levy and Picchettino’s intention of not buying anyone not just for 1 whole year but several years.
I just love hearing MP say that” I am very happy with my squad”and then the next day saying that “we are not strong enough”!A clown.
