Ex-Arsenal goalkeeper David Seaman has admitted he would like Tottenham Hotspur to win the Champions League if they play against a foreign team in this season’s final.

Spurs booked their place in the quarter-finals of the competition with a 4-0 aggregate victory over Borussia Dortmund in the Round of 16, secured by Tuesday’s 1-0 win in Germany.

It is the first time Pochettino has reached this stage of the Champions League with Tottenham, who now face a tense wait to see who they will be up against in the last eight.

But Spurs fans seemingly aren’t the only group hoping the Londoners can go all the way in Europe this term. Indeed, Arsenal legends appear to be getting in on the act.

Seaman was making an appearance on talkSPORT when a presenter brought up the possibility of Tottenham winning the Champions League.

“I know, that’d be ace, wouldn’t it!” Seaman said.

“No seriously, I swear, I would want them to win. If they were in a final against a foreign team I would want Tottenham to beat them, no doubt about that.

“Say Tottenham were playing Bayern Munich, Barcelona, whoever – I would want the English team to win.”

The former England international’s comments certainly took the fanbases of both Arsenal and Spurs by surprise.

Most Tottenham fans will tell you they want Arsenal to lose every single game, regardless of their opponent. Seaman clearly has a different way of looking at things…
