Southampton manager Ralph Hasenhuttl has confirmed striker Danny Ings will play no part against Tottenham Hotspur this weekend.

Spurs travel to St Mary’s aiming to get back to winning ways after failing take maximum points from any of their last three Premier League games.

Their chances will be boosted by the absence of Ings, who is Southampton’s top scorer with seven goals in 18 league appearances this season.

Hasenhuttl revealed the Saints aren’t willing to risk Ings on Saturday.

“Danny (Ings) is not in the group at the moment. We didn’t take any risks, we want to give him the time to come back during the three-week break after Tottenham,” said the Southampton boss (via Football London).

It will be interesting to see if Tottenham set up with a back three or a back four considering Southampton’s lack of threat up front.

Meanwhile, Dele Alli is back in training and could play a part for the visitors – Spurs posted a video of the 22-year-old in action at Hotspur way on Friday, which you can watch here.

Harry Winks is set to be assessed before Saturday’s game but Pochettino didn’t sound positive about the midfielder’s chances in his press conference.
