The agent of Christian Eriksen has said the Tottenham Hostpur playmaker is “only focusing on the football” amid fresh reports of interest from Real Madrid.

Eriksen is out of contract at the end of next season and doubts have been raised over whether he will agree terms with Spurs on an extension.

Those dragged out negotiations have led to inevitable reports of a potential exit, with Real Madrid mooted as the Dane’s most likely destination.

The European giants re-appointed former manager Zinedine Zidane earlier this week and it is believed the Frenchman has been offered huge transfer funds for the coming summer window.

Eriksen being a target makes sense given his contract situation, but the 27-year-old’s agent, Martin Schoots, has refused to add to the speculation about his client’s future.

“I don’t want to add to the speculation around Christian’s contract and football future. Christian is only focusing on the football,” Schoots told Danish outlet Ekstra Bladet, via the Mirror.

“He has evolved from a world class talent into a world class player.”

Eriksen’s form has been below par for some time now, and there have been suggestions his uncertain future could be contributing to a dip in performance.

With that in mind, Tottenham would be wise to tie down Eriksen as soon as possible – if they are willing to pay him what he wants.
