Tottenham playmaker Christian Eriken could be available for around £40 million this summer, according to the Sun.

The Dane’s, whose contract expires at the end of next season, has been linked with a move to Real Madrid in recent months.

Reports in Spain have suggested he is on Zinedine Zidane’s shortlist of summer targets.

And it is believed Spurs may have to sell Eriksen at the end of the season or risk losing him for nothing a year later.

The Sun claims Eriksen will only be worth around £40 million this summer because of his contract situation.

But even with just 12 months remaining on his deal, surely Tottenham will attempt to get a bigger fee than that.

There have been suggestions Madrid could offer Gareth Bale in part exchange for Eriksen, but again it seems unrealistic.

If Eriksen does leave it will probably be a normal deal, but Spurs will be hoping for much more than £40 million regardless of how long is left on his contract.

Preferably, the 27-year-old will agree fresh terms with Tottenham, but time appears to be running out on the Londoners.

  1. £40m? Don’t be ridiculous.
If Spurs don’t get an offer for less than £100m for Eriksen this summer (should the man want to go)
then Levy will dig his heels in and keep Eriksen to his final year contract.
Because even if we lost Eriksen for nothing in the summer of 2020, when his contract expires, it would
be better than getting £40m this year ..an amount which would not make up for Eriksen missing the following (contract-end) season, a season that might bring the club great success in our new stadium and with an injection of new players etc., and possibly even a change of heart (about leaving) from a renewed Eriksen.
