Tottenham Hotspur are considering a summer move for Everton defender Michael Keane, according to the Daily Mail.

Keane has made 31 appearances across all competitions for Everton this season and started in each of England’s two Euro 2020 qualifiers during the recent international break.

The 26-year-old has settled at Goodison Park this term, but inevitably that means he is being linked with a transfer to a top six club.

The Mail claims Spurs and Arsenal could lock horns over Keane – who is valued at £50 million by Everton – this summer as they are both in need of a new centre-back.

Mauricio Pochettino is set to lose Toby Alderweireld at the end of the season if his £25 million release clause is triggered, while Arsenal have struggled with injuries in the heart of their defence throughout the current campaign.

Both clubs are still fighting for Champions League qualification, and Keane’s destination may depend on who finishes in the top four.

That said, £50 million is a lot of money and it’s difficult to imagine Tottenham breaking their transfer record to sign Keane.

While the former Burnley defender is having an impressive season, Spurs will probably be looking for centre-backs closer to level of Alderweireld if they are willing to spend that kind of fee.
