Back in January, Tottenham Hotspur were linked with a move for Ajax starlet Donny Van de Beek.

Reports in France claimed Spurs and Manchester United were monitoring the midfielder, who had been impressing in the first half of the season.

Since then, Van de Beek’s name has become far more well-known as a result of Ajax’s incredible run to the Champions League semi-finals.

The 21-year-old was instrumental as Ajax beat Juventus 2-1 in the quarter-finals on Tuesday night, scoring the opening goal as the Dutch side stunned Cristiano Ronaldo and company.

When Tottenham were being linked with Van de Beek in January, there were suggestions Ajax would listen to offers of around £18 million.

That price will have skyrocketed over the last few months, but Spurs simply must at least make an enquiry about the Netherlands international.

Van de Beek has scored 15 goals and provided 11 assists in 50 appearances across all competitions this term, proving his ability as a dangerous attacking midfielder.

Tottenham’s problem will be the inevitable competition from some of Europe’s biggest clubs – that’s why the Londoners must act fast.

  1. 2 full backs left & right needed , 2 centre backs needed , 2 midfielders attack & defence needed , 1 striker needed , 2 wingers right & left needed , sell LLorente , LLoris Lamela , Aurier , Davis , Vorm , Trippier , Jansen , Alderweireld , Sanchez , Eriksen , couple of wingers out on loan I can`t recall , these players would free up wages & contracts , with Leveys promise of a huge transfer purse & the selling of players we could become a permanent top four team that could compete with the top World class teams & buy the quality not the quantity .

  2. Oh really, Johnny Duckett, nine new players needed, while eleven others named should depart from Spurs along with two others unnamed and who are out on loan. Why not be serious? Why not enjoy what Spurs are doing as problem after problem in this and previous seasons have been negotiated with craft and imagination by players and club staff alike?
