Atletico Madrid have entered the race to sign Tottenham Hotspur defender Kieran Trippier, according to the Daily Mail.
Last week we relayed a couple of different reports that speculated about Trippier’s future at Spurs.
The first, from Italy, claimed Napoli and Manchester United have expressed an interest in signing the right-back this summer.
The second, from closer to home, suggested Tottenham have put a £40 million price tag on Trippier, who they are apparently willing to sell in the coming transfer window.
Now, the Daily Mail is reporting Atletico Madrid have joined ‘several clubs’ by adding Trippier to their summer shortlist.
It is believed Atletico are willing to pay £15 million plus add-ons for the former Burnley player.
These rumours will come as a source of confusion to Spurs fans, who haven’t been overly pleased with Trippier’s performances this season.
The 28-year-old has struggled to rediscover his best form after a string of impressive displays for England at the World Cup.
Most wouldn’t be too bothered if Trippier left this summer, although Mauricio Pochettino may opt to keep him if a suitable replacement can’t be found.
