Tottenham Hotspur left it late to beat Brighton and Hove Albion 1-0 in the Premier League on Tuesday night.
Brighton were resilient until Christian Eriksen broke the deadlock in the 88th minute.
Here’s how every Spurs player rated on the night.
Hugo Lloris, 6 – Had nothing to do. His long distribution was a little off.
Kieran Trippier, 3 – Completely ruined the momentum every time he received the ball by needlessly bringing the ball back inside. Every time.
Toby Alderweireld, 6 – Thwarted every Brighton counter and was unlucky not to open the scoring, hitting the post after a clever turn.
Jan Vertonghen, 5 – Just as solid as his partner, but it wasn’t exactly difficult to be. Pretty much played in central midfield and was a little wasteful.
Danny Rose, 6 – Had the fans onside straight away with his drive and effort. His deliveries, however, were inconsistent to say the least.
Victor Wanyama, 4 – Far too sloppy on the ball and completely lacked incisiveness. Eric Dier, a better passer, might have suited this game more.
Christian Eriksen, 7 – Frustratingly inaccurate almost throughout, but he was patient, everything went through him and he scored a stunning winner.
Dele Alli, 6 – Really unlucky not to bag the opener after a fine touch and flick. Kept the ball ticking over in the final third despite a heavy early knock.
Lucas Moura, 4 – Didn’t offer enough in the first half and was completely isolated on the left after the break. Needs to work on his crossing.
Son Heung-min, 5 – Provided more of a goal threat than the other two forwards but his shooting was a little rash and he looked tired late on.
Fernando Llorente, 3 – Painful to watch. Showed such a lack of strength to beat Brighton’s centre-backs – to be fair they were brilliant – in 50-50s.
Substitutes
Vincent Janssen (80), N/A – Showed more composure in his 15-minute cameo than Llorente did all night.
Ben Davies (82), N/A – Didn’t have many touches.
Juan Foyth (90), N/A – Not sure if he touched the ball.
please stop passing and passing and passing. Mr. Pochetino tell your players they must increase in tempo, they must play quickly, go into the penalty area individual!!! How is it possible they played high swings meeting opposite players that are two feet taller?
When you meet Ajax please play physical tough games.If wyou want to lose you must play the way you did to night. You can only beat Ajax by playing rough and physically strong.

They definitely need to work on their movement off the ball, everyone just standing in the box waiting for a cross. Possibly have more single or double runs into the box. And Trippier needs to work on his crosses!
Yes I agree totally. Just too slow no incisiveness too scared to beat a man. Slow motion passing and passing no going forward it was painful to watch. The way it was won was like watching paint dry. This team have to wake up. Trippier was useless and the passing by Wanyama was dreadful. Overall a very poor prerformance.
Fernando Llorente we could have put a dummy from a shop window in the team and got more out of it
Completely agree, Llorente is absolutely useless, I,d play Vinny against the Hammers. Spurs need to up the tempo big time including Ali who has had a poor season by his usually very high standards. Wanyama not at the races either, welcome back Mr Dier, hopefully.
