Napoli are exploring the possibility of a swap deal involving midfielder Amadou Diawara and Tottenham Hotspur defender Kieran Trippier, according to reports in Italy.
Trippier has struggled to rediscover his best form for Spurs this season despite impressing for England at the World Cup last summer and has been linked with an exit.
Both Napoli and Manchester United have been tippied to move for Trippier, who is apparently valued at £40 million by Tottenham.
And according to Italian outlet Tutto Mercato Web, the 28-year-old is one of two full-backs Napoli are tracking ahead of the summer transfer window.
The report goes onto claim Napoli could offer Diawara – a central midfielder Spurs have been linked with in the past – in exchange for Trippier.
Tottenham will almost certainly be in the market for new central midfielders this summer due to the lack of depth in the middle of the park.
Whether the Londoners are still interested in Diawara is a source of speculation – the 21-year-old has made just 13 league appearances this season.
Would swapping Trippier for Diawara be a good deal for Spurs? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
Any deal to sold trippier is good..
Swapping trippier for a Door would be a great deal , getting a footballer in his place would be a miracle
Acquiring Diawara might work well for Spurs. Not certain that a Trippier trade makes sense. Certainly not a straight trade.
If Napoli are pursuing Trippier, Diawara could be offered as a part of the make-weight.l
Swap Deals are increasingly rare in todays game, however I agree with Brian, if such a deal were to take place, Diawara would certainly not equal Trippier Straight up. I would think an extra 10 million pounds or even 15 would need to be thrown in for Levy to consider.
Not sure why Tripps has lost his edge this season. Maybe he just needs a good break.
Personally I would like to see him stay. But a decision at only come at a price.
I think that this will be good. He is a young player and can gain experience. He will be one of the best right backs in the game.
diawara is not making the napoli team so why do people think he is good enough for us — trippier may have had a bad season but we need a quality replacement before we can even consider letting him go — it seems obvious that grealish would be a good fit but this must await the promotion or otherwise of villa — meantime i really think we should be considering hector herrera porto captain and out of contract this summer
