Tottenham Hotspur fell to a 1-0 defeat against Ajax in the first leg of the Champions League semi-finals on Tuesday evening.

Donny van de Beek’s early goal was enough to give the Dutch side the advantage ahead of the return fixture.

Here’s how every Spurs player rated on the night.

Hugo Lloris, 6 – Put on the floor by Van de Beek for the goal. All of his other saves were comfortable.

Kieran Trippier, 3 – Wildly inaccurate with his passing and crossing. Overrun in the early stages.

Davinson Sanchez, 4 – Too many errors in possession that constantly put Tottenham under pressure.

Toby Alderweireld, 6 – Made up for his teammates’ mistakes a few times but wasn’t totally assured himself.

Jan Vertonghen, 6 – Looked solid enough until being forced off with a nasty facial injury.

Danny Rose, 6 – Made some good runs down the left and played with drive throughout. Crossing could have been better, though.

Victor Wanyama, 3 – Didn’t protect the back line at all and was sloppy on the ball.

Christian Eriksen, 4 – Seemed to wait too long to play the killer pass every single time. Looked low on energy.

Dele Alli, 4 – A tired display. Missed Spurs’ best chances and was slow to react to some situations.

Lucas Moura, 4 – Some useful dribbles but needed to get his head up and make more incisive runs.

Fernando Llorente, 3 – Nowhere near enough authority in the air and his lay-offs to teammates rarely reached their target.

Substitutes

Moussa Sissoko, 7 – Tottenham’s best player despite coming on in the 39th minute. Changed the game with his purposeful runs.

Juan Foyth, N/A – Part of a late double change to add fresh legs.

Ben Davies, N/A – See above.
