Davinson Sanchez remains a doubt for Tottenham Hotspur’s Champions League final against Liverpool, according to the Guardian.
However, it is believed Spurs are confident Jan Vertonghen will be fit to play in Madrid on June 1st.
Vertonghen admitted he played through an ankle injury during the second half of Tottenham’s remarkable comeback victory over Ajax in the semi-finals.
The Belgian has damaged ankle ligaments in the past and there were immediate fears he would be ruled out for the final.
But the Guardian claims Vertonghen is likely to return for what is being described as one of the biggest games in the club’s history.
Harry Kane and Harry Winks are also expected to be fit as they have just under three weeks to recover from ankle and groin problems respectively.
Spurs have given few updates on Sanchez since he suffered a thigh problem. The Colombian was in attendance against Ajax but was unable to play.
In truth, Sanchez is unlikely to start in the final regardless, particularly if Vertonghen is passed fit – Tottenham have enjoyed more success with a back four than a back three of late.
