Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with AS Roma midfielder Lorenzo Pellegrini by the Italian media.
Pellegrini scored four goals and provided seven assists in 33 appearances across all competitions this season from central midfield.
Italian outlet Calcio Mercato claims Spurs and Arsenal have been put on alert with Pellegrini keen on a move to one of the north London clubs.
The 22-year-old’s agent is apparently in London amid suggestions he could talk to Tottenham or the Gunners about a potential transfer for his client.
Pellegrini is said to be eager to play Champions League football next season, which gives Spurs an obvious advantage over their fierce rivals.
Calcio Mercato’s report suggests the Italy international’s release clause could be as low as €35 million, which would make him a very affordable option for Tottenham.
Mauricio Pochettino will be on the lookout for a new central midfielder this term to provide competition for Eric Dier, Harry Winks and Moussa Sissoko.
Spurs have also been linked with Pellegrini’s Roma teammate Nicolo Zaniolo, a forward, but midfield is more of a priority for now.
