Tottenham starlet Marcus Edwards claims accusations of a bad attitude during his loan spell at Norwich City last year were a “big misunderstanding”.
Edwards is now back at Spurs after spending last season on loan at Dutch side Excelsior, where he impressed with two goals and four assists in 25 Eredivisie appearances.
The 20-year-old spent the second half of the 2017/18 campaign with Norwich in the Championship but didn’t make a single senior appearance.
At the time, Canaries manager Daniel Farke criticised Edwards’ attitude and time keeping, adding to Mauricio Pochettino’s suggestion of “authority and behavioural problems”.
But in his first big interview with a British newspaper, the England youth international told the Independent’s Jack Pitt-Brooke that his time at Norwich had been somewhat misconstrued.
“I think there were loads of things with that one,” Edwards said. “I had a back injury when I went there. I was so eager to go, I just got through the clearance training [which is] to see if you’re fit. But when I got there, and trained, I felt my back. I was in and out of training for two or three months. So that’s the main reason.
“I think maybe it (the criticism) was a bit unfair. The whole situation that happened at Norwich, it already played onto what Pochettino said. Even though I was definitely a lot younger then, that’s when I was growing up. It was a big misunderstanding.
“I feel as though, once Daniel Farke said it out loud, that is when I got misunderstood a bit. Because I felt I had already grown up. I thought I was already grown up, and all the attitude stuff, that was when I was going through the academy. When I hit 19, I felt I was a bit more mature. That’s why I feel I was misunderstood.”

Edwards has one year left on his Tottenham contract and went on to lay out his future plans, although he didn’t reveal whether or not he plans to stay in north London.
He added: “I definitely think I’ve got a better attitude now. I’m just ready to kick on with my career. I think I needed this year. I know I’m a good player, I know I can do what I want to do. It has made me have a clear vision of what I want in football. I just want to get as high up to the top level as I can.”

I hope not he does have a bad attitude and needs to be moved on a very lazy player if he looses the ball doesn’t track back and although very skillfull the bad attitude still hangs over his head and the team he was on loan with got relegated this season and no I am not saying it was all his fault.
Best talent at the club if the manager would give him the opportunities he has given favourites like Lamela.
