Tottenham Hotspur are NOT prioritising a move for Monaco midfielder Youri Tielemans, according to Belgian football journalist Kristof Terreur.

Tielemans has been linked with Spurs and Manchester United after impressing during a loan spell with Leicester City last season.

The Belgium international scored three goals and provided five assists in 13 Premier League appearances for Leicester, who he joined in the January transfer window.

He is now back at Monaco and recently admitted he is flattered by reported interest from Tottenham and United.

However, Terreur – usually reliable when it comes to Belgian players – claims Spurs have other priorities in the current transfer market, likely referring to the club’s pursuits of Tanguy Ndombele and Giovani Lo Celso.

Meanwhile, United are said to have contacted Monaco over Tielemans, while it is believed Leicester are still hopeful of striking a deal for the 22-year-old.

It seems Tottenham are targeting a more defensive midfielder than Tielemans, which explains their interest in Ndombele.

Adding both Ndombele and Tielemans would improve the squad exponentially, but right now it looks like the latter is more likely to join United.

  1. I know that the club cannot be held responsible for being linked to every Tom,Dick or Harry but I am pretty confident in predicting that we will not be active in the transfer market as buyers until late in the transfer window if at all.It makes sense to let all the other clubs strengthen before us and then buy the left overs. Can we really blame MP if he is pissed off and leaves…..

  2. Fair play Delboy, equally loving Mighty Spurs supporters , I genuinely think that after 20 years of unsuccessful ownership, maybe it’s time for pastures new. Possibly, a breath of fresh air, and a direction is now needed to take us to our desired destination. 20 long assed years, and nothing to show other than a league cup. Given the size of our much Loved and well supported Football Club, surly we should have achieved a great deal more successful years under the wealth of our ownership. We will always love you THFC, but I honestly think in my humble opinion, that we should’ve achieved a lot more, given other clubs success during the time of current occupiers time in ownership. Love You Till I Die, COYS
