Tottenham Hotspur have dropped their interest in Sporting Lisbon star Bruno Fernandes… again, according to Sky Sports.
Last week we relayed a story claiming Spurs had pulled out of the race to sign Fernandes, who is also said to be a target for Manchester United.
But this week reports emerged suggesting the Londoners are back in for the midfielder after holding talks with his agent.
However, Sky Sports now believes Tottenham’s interest has cooled once again despite confirmation a meeting with Fernandes’ representatives took place.
Sporting apparently value the 24-year-old at over £65m and Spurs don’t want to get involved in a bidding war with United.
With that in mind, it’s likely the Red Devils will enter pole position to sign Fernandes despite the fact they can not offer the Portugal international Champions League football.
Fernandes scored 32 goals across all competitions for Sporting last season, which explains why the likes of Tottenham and United are keen on him.
Perhaps Spurs will now prioritise a move for Real Betis’ Giovani Lo Celso.
