Tottenham want Real Madrid to give up Marco Asensio in exchange for Christian Eriksen but Zinedine Zidane isn’t keen on the idea, according to the Sun.

Earlier this week, we relayed reports suggesting Real are preparing an offer of £45 million plus midfielder Dani Ceballos in a bid to tempt Spurs into selling Eriksen.

However, the Sun claims Tottenham would much rather take Asensio than Ceballos.

Asensio is the more attacking player of the two, so it makes sense that Spurs see the 22-year-old as a more suitable replacement for Eriksen.

Zidane apparently doesn’t want to lose Asensio and Madrid are said to have already turned down an approach for Juventus.

But Tottenham are eager to recruit the Spaniard, and the Sun says an initial loan could be agreed as part of a deal for Eriksen.

Asensio has been tipped to become a leading light for Real and Spain but he had a quiet season in 2018/19 as Madrid struggled without Cristiano Ronaldo.

Perhaps he needs a move to rediscover his best form, and it seems Tottenham could offer him a new home.
