Tottenham Hotspur are locked in a battle to sign West Bromwich Albion starlet Rekeem Harper, according to the Mirror.

Harper scored one goal and provided one assist in 16 Championship appearances for West Brom last season from central midfield and is out of contract this month.

The 19-year-old is among the most highly rated young players in the country having made seven appearances for England’s Under-19s.

And the Mirror claims Spurs, Liverpool and Juventus are all battling for his signature this summer.

New Baggies manager Slaven Bilic will apparently attempt to convince Harper to stay at the Hawthorns next season to help the team achieve promotion back to the Premier League.

But the teenager has failed to agree terms on a new deal with West Brom and can leave the club this month for a small compensation fee.

That will obviously appeal to Tottenham, who generally work on a much smaller budget to the sides around them.

The Londoners are aiming to recruit a central midfielder this summer with Lyon’s Tanguy Ndombele said to be at the top of Mauricio Pochettino’s list of targets.

Harper would be one for the future rather than an immediate starter for the first-team, and it would be a boost to beat the likes of Liverpool and Juventus to the youngster.
