Tottenham Hotspur are edging closer to completing a deal for Lyon star Tanguy Ndombele, according to the London Evening Standard.
Earlier this week, we relayed reports suggesting both Spurs and Lyon are growing increasingly confident about a deal being done.
And the Standard claims the transfer is ‘getting closer’ as negotiations between Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy and Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas continue.
Spurs apparently had concerns Ndombele would choose another club having been linked with Manchester City, Manchester United, Juventus and Real Madrid.
Those worries are said to have disappeared but the midfielder isn’t set to make a final decision on his future until he returns from a holiday.
The Standard also claims Tottenham are likely to be successful with a final offer of around £60 million having originally been quote £71 million by Lyon.
Levy is likely to drag out the negotiations, as he does with most transfers, with the club aiming to bring in their first new recruit since Lucas Moura’s arrival from PSG in January 2018.

Exactly Levy will drag out the négociations until either another club come in for him without messing around or nothing will have been concluded by transfer deadline day and he will remain a Lyon player.Watch this space…..
Whilst I appreciate Levy not wanting to be “held to ransom” and getting into a ‘bidding war’, he should be well aware that it is vitally important to demonstrate to Poch that he can step in and get the job done. Continuance of his ‘tough negotiator’ stance and grinding-out-a-transfer approach will be seen as a big negative by the Spurs manager. He has to be quicker and less intent on saving a couple of million. It worked for Liverpool going out decisively and buying the likes of Allison and Van Dijk and we should do the same. Pochettino will not be happy if Levy keeps submitting low offers bolstered by layers of complex add-ons and Co-op coupons.
