Tottenham Hotspur remain close to signing Lyon midfielder Tanguy Ndombele despite reported interest from Juventus, according to Football London.

Earlier this week, we relayed reports suggesting Mauricio Pochettino had given Ndombele a tour of the Spurs training ground ahead of his proposed club record transfer.

However, Eurosport France claims Juventus remain in contact with Lyon and could make a late move for Ndombele, although Tottenham are said to still be in pole position.

Thankfully for Spurs fans, Football London believes the club is edging closer to completing the signing of Ndombele and the move could be announced as early as next week.

The final fee could eventually rise to around £75 million, meaning Tottenham may be about to smash their transfer record by around £35 million.

It comes as a welcome surprise for a number of reasons, not least because Ndombele has been linked with the likes of Juventus, Real Madrid and Manchester City.

What’s more, it suggests Spurs chairman Daniel Levy is ready to give Pochettino the funds to consistently challenge for major trophies.

A deal for Leeds United teenager Jack Clarke is also reportedly close.
