Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing Monaco starlet Benoit Badiashile, according to reports in France.

The 18-year-old was thrown in at the deep end last season and ended up making 20 Ligue 1 appearances, scoring one goal from centre-back.

And according to France Football (as relayed by Sport Witness), Spurs have been keeping tabs on Badiashile ever since he broke into the Monaco first-team.

However, the report claims Badiashile wants to stay at Monaco and become a regular starter for the club, who narrowly avoided relegation in 2018/19.

Even if Tottenham do make an approach for the teenager, it appears he could decide to remain in France rather than join a Champions League team.

Spurs might be in need of a new centre-back in the coming weeks if Toby Alderweireld’s £25 million release clause is triggered.

The Alderweireld speculation has all gone very quiet, but it only takes one offer for that to change.

Tottenham haven’t been linked with an established centre-back for a while, which might be because the club is busy finalising deals for Tanguy Ndombele and Jack Clarke.
