Bournemouth defender and reported Tottenham Hotspur target Nathan Ake is being lined up for a £40 million move to Manchester City, according to reports in France.

Spurs were linked with Ake back in January and again last month with the Londoners said to be on the hunt for a Toby Alderweireld replacement.

Alderweireld could leave this summer if his £25 million release clause is triggered, though it has all gone very quiet on that front.

And now, French outlet L’Equipe claims Ake is likely to join Manchester City for around £40 million in the coming weeks.

L’Equipe broke the news of Tanguy Ndombele’s transfer to Tottenham, so they are generally quite reliable when it comes to transfers.

Their report also suggests Spurs remain interested in Ake, but the Dutchman is thought to be on his way to the Etihad.

City have also been linked with Leicester’s Harry Maguire, but Sky Sports believes Manchester United are currently leading the race to sign the England international.

Perhaps Tottenham are waiting until Alderweireld’s future is cleared up before moving for a new centre-back.
