The first North London Derby at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium has been confirmed – but it will be Karen Hills in the home dugout, rather than Mauricio Pochettino as Tottenham Women host Arsenal Women.
Whilst the Argentine’s side will have to wait until late April to welcome the old enemy to their new stadium, Spurs Ladies, who were promoted to the WSL after a second-place finish in the Women’s Championship last season, will play their rivals on 17 November.
With more than 28 million people having watched the 2019 Women’s World Cup in France recently – where the Lionesses reached the semi-final before losing to the United States – it’s another massive step in the right direction for the women’s game.
Prior to that, Spurs travel to Stamford Bridge to face Chelsea in another London Derby in their opening game of the campaign on 8th September – and it will be shown live on the BBC.
