Tottenham have launched a sensational €30m bid in an attempt to hijack a deal from Arsenal for St Etienne defender William Saliba.

Spurs’ North London rivals have been front-runners to sign the Frenchman all transfer window, but Tottenham have emerged as favourites and have met the demands of the Ligue 1 side, according to @GFFN.

Mauricio Pochettino is not openly in the market for a new centre-back, but Toby Alderweireld – who has a £25m release clause, if signed before 25 July – has been linked with a move to Serie A side Roma and reports have been circulating that Frank Baldini has arrived in London to try and get a deal over the line for the 30-year-old.

If that deal was to happen, then Spurs would have just three senior centre-backs at their disposal – with one of them being the inexperienced Juan Foyth – so bringing the teenage sensational to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium would be make perfect sense for the Argetine, not to mention getting one over there fierce rivals.

  1. If true, St. Etienne said he would have to be loaned back and that is non negotiable. Heard it myself from a presser that was translated from a representative of the club.
