Atletico Madrid striker Angel Correa was offered to Tottenham during talks over a deal for Kieran Trippier, according to Sky Sports.

Multiple reports claim Trippier is set to join Atletico after a £20-25 million fee was agreed with Spurs for the right-back.

The deal has come about relatively quickly, but we’re now beginning to discover more details of the talks that took place between the two clubs.

Sky Sports believes Atletico offered Correa to Tottenham during the discussions, but it’s unclear whether the Londoners are interested in signing the striker.

Correa has scored 30 goals in 178 appearances across all competitions for Atletico since joining the club from San Lorenzo in 2014.

The Argentina international has found the net twice in 11 games for his country and could seek a move this summer in order to start more regularly elsewhere.

However, he would likely take Fernando Llorente’s place in the Spurs squad as the new back-up option to Harry Kane.

With that in mind, Correa probably wouldn’t see his game time improve under his countryman Mauricio Pochettino, so joining Tottenham might not be his best option.
