Tottenham are to re-enter talks over the signing of Bruno Fernandes on Friday after failing to reach an agreement with Sporting Lisbon, according to reports in Portugal.

On Thursday, reports emerged suggesting Spurs had sent representatives for discussions with Sporting over a deal for Fernandes, who has also been targeted by Manchester United this summer.

Portuguese outlet A Bola claims the two clubs failed to agree a fee on Thursday with Sporting demanding £64 for their star midfielder, who scored 31 goals across all competitions last season.

However, the report says Spurs will sit down with Sporting again on Friday as the Londoners try to secure their third summer signing. It seems they do not want to break their transfer record for a second time following the arrival of Tanguy Ndombele from Lyon.

It will be interesting to see if Tottenham are willing to meet Sporting’s demands. If not, perhaps they will revive their interest in Real Betis star Giovani Lo Celso – a deal for the Argentinian is either close or far from complete, depending on who you believe.
