Tottenham are keeping an eye on Nice defender Youcef Atal as they continue to mull over signing a new right-back, according to DZ Football.
Juan Foyth, who has been playing on the right of a back four during pre-season, has been ruled out until September due to an ankle injury he picked up against Bayern Munich in the Audi Cup.
That leaves Mauricio Pochettino with Kyle Walker-Peters and Serge Aurier as his right-back options, but question marks remain over the quality of both players. Subsequently, Spurs have been linked with Napoli’s Elseid Hysaj.
However, it looks like Hysaj isn’t the only right-back Tottenham are looking at. DZ Football claims the Londoners are keeping tabs on Atal, who scored six goals in 29 league appearances for Nice last season.
The 23-year-old broke his collar bone while player for Algeria at the Africa Cup of Nations over the summer, so there may be question marks over his fitness.
With that in mind, Pochettino might opt against bringing in another right-back and instead wait for Foyth to return and provide competition for Walker-Peters and Aurier.
