Totttenham are closing in on a deal to sign Real Betis midfielder Giovani Lo Celso for £55m.
Mauricio Pochettino’s side have been chasing his number one target for the majority of the window and with Lo Celso playing no part in Betis’ pre-season friendly against Las Palmas tonight, he is now expected to travel from Seville to London tomorrow and undergo a medical before signing a long-term contract.
Spurs offered around £50 earlier this summer, but their bid was rejected. And then Atletico Madrid registered their interest in the highly-rated midfielder, however, with time running out, the La Liga side have accepted their improved £55m bid and the 23-year-old looks set to become Tottenham’s fourth signing of the summer.
If Lo Celso completes his move he could go straight into the squad for Spurs’ curtain-raiser against Aston Villa at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday evening.
