Totttenham’s Football League loanees enjoyed a successful night in the opening round of the Carabao Cup – with all three of their respective sides winning.

Jack Clarke, who joined Spurs last month before being loaned back to Leeds, was given his first taste of action this term and played 70 minutes as the Whites comfortably dispatched League Two side Salford United to move into round two to set up a date with Cameron Carter-Vickers’ Stoke City at Elland Road, who beat Wigan Athletic 1-0.

The American international made his Potters debut and played the full 90 minutes as a first-half strike from Nathan Collins saw them safely through.

Lastly, Luke Amos, who has started both of QPR’s Championship games so far this season, was left on the bench here. But came on for the final 30 minutes and scored his spot-kick as the R’s came from behind in normal time to beat Bristol City 5-4 on penalties.

The West Londoners will travel to League One Portsmouth in the next round.
