Christian Eriksen has given the biggest hint yet that he will remain at Tottenham past Monday’s European transfer window deadline.
The 27-year-old stated earlier this summer that he wanted a year challenge after six-years with Spurs and has been the subject of interest from Manchester United, Real Madrid and Juventus.
But as of yet, none of those sides have contacted Tottenham about a potential transfer and with less than a week until the European window slams shut, the attacking midfielder, who scored ten goals for Mauricio Pochettino’s side last term, looks set to stay with Spurs.
Eriksen has endured a mixed start to the Premier League campaign, starting just one of Tottenham’s opening three matches, but after playing the final 30 minutes of their defeat to Newcastle United on Sunday, is expected to return to the starting XI against Arsenal.
Spurs were drawn to face Bayern Munich, Olympiacos and Red Star Belgrade in the group stages of the Champions League earlier today and the Danish midfielder reacted to the news by posting an Instagram story with a message that read ‘Champions League nights’ followed by a fire emoji.
Eriksen staying could result in Tottenham losing one of their star players for free next summer, but it does mean that they will get to enjoy at least one more year of his world class ability.

I hope so, Levy needs to build some bridges with his agents and offer him a contract he can’t refuse.
Let him go in January and move heaven and earth to sign Bruno Fernandez as his replacement.

Strong comments above and a bit harsh IMO. He has certainly been frustrating over the last season and not half the player of earlier years. He has certainly been playing as though his heart’s not in it and frustrates with his inability to beat the first man at corners and lack of goals from free-kicks – always a very potent weapon in his old armoury. I do think it would be better for all if he moved on and we found a replacement keen to play for Spurs, perhaps the aforementioned Bruno Fernandes or Isco. Shame Poch didn’t show more enthusiasm for Ceballos who seems to have settled in very nicely for that lot up the road.
