Tanguy Ndombele looks set to miss the North London derby on Sunday after he was left out of the France squad for their European Championship qualifiers next month.

The 22-year-old, who scored on his Premier League debut against Aston Villa on the opening-day, missed Spurs’ defeat to Newcastle United on Sunday with a hamstring problem and hasn’t trained this week, although he did meet fans at a public appearance at the new stadium earlier this week.

The club were hopeful that Ndombele would be given every opportunity to face Arsenal for the first time in his career, but this news all but confirms he won’t be fit enough to feature at the Emirates.

Tottenham are likely to give a more extensive update on the condition of their record-signing prior to Mauricio Pochettino’s press conference that takes place at their Enfield training ground tomorrow.

Elsewhere, Hugo Lloris and Moussa Sissoko, who are both expected to start against Unai Emery’s men, were included in the French squad for games against Albania and Andorra.
