Troy Parrott marked his debut for the Republic of Ireland Under-21s with a goal on Friday night.
The Tottenham striker, who featured heavily for Spurs during pre-season, made the step up to Under-21 level after scoring four goals in four appearances for the Under-19s.
There was even talk of the 17-year-old making his senior debut in the current international break, but Mick McCarthy opted against calling him up.
It was probably a wise decision as Parrott doesn’t need the pressure of leading the line for his country at such a young age.
Playing for the Under-21s will give him the chance to develop his game at a more suitable level. Watch his goal against Armenia below.
