Tottenham are interested in signing Fenerbahce striker Vedat Muriqi, according to reports in Turkey.
Muriqi, who has scored two goals in three league appearances so far this season, was apparently watched by Spurs scouts when he played a starring role for Kosovo against the Czech Republic on Saturday.
That’s according to Turkish outlet Sabah. They claim Tottenham and three Italian clubs – Napoli, Fiorentina and Lazio – all had representatives scouting Muriqi over the weekend. The 25-year-old scored the equaliser as Kosovo came from a goal behind to win 2-1.
England play Kosovo at Wembley on Tuesday night as the Euro 2020 qualifying campaign continues, so Spurs fans will have the opportunity to watch Muriqi up close. The club’s scouts also won’t have very far to travel if they want to assess the player once again.
Sabah believes Fenerbahce do not want to lose their star striker – who has been compared to Manchester United favourite Zlatan Ibrahimovic by the Turkish media – until the end of the season, so it’s unlikely Tottenham will make their move in January if they are genuinely interested.
Spurs have dealt with Fenerbahce in the past having negotiated a loan deal for Vincent Janssen – perhaps the clubs will open up a dialogue again in the near future, this time over Muraqi.
