Fernando Llorente marked his Napoli debut with an assist in their 2-0 victory over Sampdoria on Saturday evening.

The 34-year-old, who joined the Italian giants for a free transfer earlier this month after he decided against renewing his Tottenham contract, started on the bench at Stadio San Paolo, but made an almost immediate impact after replacing Hirving Lozano on 65 minutes.

With Napoli already leading 1-0 thanks to an early Dries Mertens strike, Llorente set up Belgian international for his second of the evening after he capitalised on a loose ball,  beat the goalkeeper before wonderfully cutting back for Mertens, who swept home to make it 2-0.

The Spanish striker will be hoping his late contribution will be enough to earn him a first Napoli start when they open up their Champions League campaign against holders Liverpool in Naples on Tuesday.
