Ben Chilwell is in contention to play for Leicester City against Tottenham this weekend, according to Foxes manager Brendan Rodgers.
The defender had been a doubt for Saturday’s Premier League clash at the King Power Stadium after missing training on Thursday. But Rodgers has revealed he was having an indoor recovery session and the Leicester website confirmed he is available for selection.
Chilwell’s inclusion will make things slightly more difficult for Spurs. The 22-year-old is one of the best left-backs in the country, and he was on the scoresheet against the Londoners in this fixture three seasons ago – though Tottenham did end up running out 6-1 winners.
Leicester are expected to put up a challenge for a top six finish this term despite losing 1-0 at Manchester United last weekend. Saturday will be another opportunity for them to prove their credentials, so Spurs will need to be on their toes.
If Tottenham play a diamond, Chilwell is likely to come up against Serge Aurier, who will provide the width for the visitors down the right. The Ivorian was excellent in last weekend’s 4-0 win over Crystal Palace, and Pochettino will be hoping he can make a similar impact at the King Power.
