Tottenham defender Serge Aurier is keen on the idea of joining AC Milan, according to reports in Italy.
Aurier was linked with a move to Milan before the European transfer window closed earlier this month but ended up staying at Spurs. He has since made two impressive appearances, providing two assists in a 4-0 win over Crystal Palace and seeing a well-taken goal unfortunately disallowed for offside in Saturday’s defeat at Leicester City.
There is still some uncertainty as to who Mauricio Pochettino’s first-choice right-back actually is. Juan Foyth, usually a centre-back, started on the right throughout pre-season before suffering an ankle injury. Kyle Walker-Peters began the campaign there before picking up an injury of his own, allowing Davinson Sanchez – another centre-back – and Aurier to battle for the spot.
Aurier is certainly winning that fight at the moment, but Italian outlet Sport Mediaset claims Milan remain interested in the Ivorian. What’s more, they believe Aurier has sent admiring glances towards the former European champions.
It’s unclear whether Tottenham would even consider selling the 26-year-old in January given his recent improved performances and the lack of high-quality options at right-back. Time will tell.
I am loathe to discuss the events at my club since the start of the season. It is a humbling experience down from the highs of last season. I think we should support all who desires an exit from the club and re build our team.
